Sri Lanka Clinches Series‑Turning Win as Kusal Mendis Scores 87

Ravalpindi witnessed Sri Lanka overturn a modest target of 170 to claim an eight‑wicket win over Pakistan in the third T20 International on 13 October. The island side’s chase was anchored by captain Kusal Mendis, who blasted 87 runs from 48 balls, including nine fours and four sixes.

After a shaky start—Lahiru Udara falling for one—the innings found stability when Sineth Jayawardene partnered with Kusal for 59 runs off 41 balls. Jayawardene contributed 38 runs from 26 balls before being dismissed. The turning point arrived as Kamindu Mendis walked in, forming an unbroken 98‑run partnership with his brother. Kamindu added 40 runs from 27 balls, striking four fours, while Kusal’s explosive cameo ensured Sri Lanka reached the target with just one wicket lost in 17.1 overs.

Pakistan’s bowlers, Mohammad Imran Raza and Arafat Minhas, each claimed a wicket, but the damage was done. Pakistan’s batting faltered early; Fakhar Zaman made 12, while Maz Sabih, Hassan Nawaz, and Khwaja Nafees offered little. Captain Farhan Ahmed’s resilient 76 off 47 balls, peppered with seven fours and three sixes, was the only resistance. Abdul Samad added 15 runs, and Minhas finished unbeaten on 34, taking the total to 168/8.

In reply, Sri Lanka’s bowlers Nuwan Thushara and Ishan Malinga each secured two wickets, and Dasun Shanaka claimed three for 21 runs. Although Pakistan retained a 2‑1 series lead, the win kept Sri Lanka in contention.
