Squash at the 2026 Asian Games – Schedule, Seeds and Medal History
The 20th Asian Games will be staged in Japan’s Aichi‑Nagoya region from 19 September to 4 October 2026. The squash competition schedule and seedings have been unveiled, confirming India’s men’s squad as the top‑seeded team and the women’s squad as the third seed.
All matches are set for the Nagoya Kinjo‑Futo Arena. Singles and mixed doubles will run from 23 to 27 September, while the team events are slated for 28 September through 2 October.
India’s men’s team – Abhay Singh, Veer Chhotarani, Welvan Senthilkumar and Suraj Chand – are placed in Pool A together with Korea and China. The women’s side – Anahat Singh, Tanvi Khanna, Josna Chinappa and Shamina Riaz – belong to Pool C, competing against Japan, China and Iran.
In the men’s singles draw, Abhay Singh occupies the second seed and Veer Chhotarani the fourth seed; both receive a bye into the second round. Women’s singles see Anahat Singh seeded third with a bye, while seventh‑seeded Tanvi Khanna begins her campaign versus Korea’s Dami Kim.
The mixed doubles feature Malaysia’s top‑seeded duo Iqfa Azman and Mohammad Shafiq Kamal. India’s third‑seeded pair consists of Welvan Senthilkumar and Josna Chinappa, while a second Indian team – Suraj Chand and Shamina Riaz – holds the ninth seed. Both Indian pairs have been granted byes and will meet each other in the second round.
These squash events also act as a qualification tournament for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, with the champion earning a historic place as the sport’s first Olympic athlete.
India’s performance at the 2023 Asian Games yielded five squash medals – two gold, one silver and two bronze – bringing its cumulative Asian Games squash tally to 18 medals (3 gold, 4 silver, 11 bronze). The men’s team had taken gold in the previous edition, and the mixed doubles pair also clinched first place. Former gold‑medalist Harinder Pal Sandhu will direct the team as coach.
