South Africa Equalise Series With Dominant Win Over Australia

South Africa produced a dominant performance in the second Test to draw the three-match series 1-1 against Australia, winning by an innings and 31 runs.

The victory was built around a memorable knock from captain Temba Bavuma, who scored 179 and was named Player of the Match.

After the game, Bavuma spoke about the expectations placed on the team as reigning world champions. "Everyone wants to see us play like world champions. Whatever we do, people are watching. We understood that after our performance in Durban. We also found out what it means to play against a strong opponent."

Kagiso Rabada was another key figure. Having missed the first Test due to injury, which contributed to a South African defeat, he returned in the second match and delivered a superb spell with the ball, finishing with six wickets.

Bavuma described Rabada's contribution as invaluable. "His value is very high. When he is out there, he takes on the responsibility of leading the bowling attack. I think that gives everyone else the chance to do what they need to do. Rabada inspires the players around him."

South Africa batted first and were 110 for six at one stage. Bavuma's 179 steadied the innings, and Marco Jansen (85) and Simon Harmer (82) also contributed. The hosts declared at 425 for nine.

Australia were bowled out for 99 in their first innings. Jansen led the bowling effort with five wickets.

Australia had to follow on, and Travis Head's 121 took them to 295. However, they still lost the match by an innings and 31 runs.
