Sonali Vishnu Shares Journey from Novice to Asian Games Champion

Veteran player Sonali Vishnu reflected on her path from a complete beginner to a gold‑medal winner at the Asian Games. She recounted how coach Rajesh Sir introduced her to kabaddi when she knew nothing about the sport. The mentor not only taught techniques but also helped her obtain essential equipment such as shorts, kits, and shoes, despite her modest financial background.

“The moment we heard the national anthem after the ceremony, it was unforgettable. Raising our flag and hearing the anthem gave me goosebumps,” Sonali said, describing the emotional climax of the final. Her story emphasizes the role of mentorship, financial assistance, and personal determination in achieving elite performance.
