India’s star batter, Smriti Mandhana, has continued her phenomenal form in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 with a spectacular century against New Zealand. Her brilliant innings of 109 runs from just 95 deliveries not only propelled India to a dominant position in the match but also saw her achieve significant personal milestones, rewriting several records in women’s international cricket.
With this outstanding century, her 14th in One Day Internationals, Mandhana has now surpassed New Zealand’s Suzie Bates, who has 13 ODI centuries. This places Mandhana second on the all-time list for most centuries in women’s ODIs, with only Australian legend Meg Lanning, who has 15 centuries, ahead of her. Mandhana’s consistent brilliance has been crucial for India’s batting lineup, showcasing a blend of technical skill and aggressive batting that proved too much for the New Zealand bowlers.
Smriti Mandhana’s exceptional performance also saw her equal her captain, Harmanpreet Kaur’s record for the most centuries scored by an Indian player in Women’s World Cup tournaments. Both now have three World Cup centuries to their names, solidifying Mandhana’s reputation as a key performer for India on the biggest stage.
Furthermore, Mandhana is currently dominating the 2025 season, holding the record for the most sixes hit by any woman cricketer this year, with an impressive 29 maximums. Her ability to seamlessly blend elegant stroke play with powerful hitting makes her a formidable opponent for bowlers across all formats of the game.
