Silver Success for Harjinder Kaur as She Lifts 227kg in Women's 69kg Category

Harjinder Kaur’s performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow earned her a silver medal in the women’s 69 kg division. The Indian athlete recorded a total of 227 kg – a 101 kg snatch followed by a commanding 126 kg clean and jerk – which was only surpassed by Canada’s Charlotte Simonieu, who lifted 240 kg for gold. Australia’s Nya Fibe Heiman rounded out the podium with a bronze total of 218 kg.

Kaur told reporters, “I am delighted with the silver medal and the way I lifted today. Although I have lifted heavier weights in practice, especially during clean and jerk sessions, I feel satisfied with my competition lifts.”

She emphasized that she completed all six attempts cleanly and felt in good form throughout the event. The medal, she said, is dedicated to her supportive family and the Indian Weightlifting Federation, whose encouragement helped her reach this milestone. A phone call to her mother was the first thing she made after the victory, bringing relief to a mother who had been anxious during the final days of the meet.
