Session Court Extends Time for Brahbhushan Singh to Respond to Appeal

The Delhi Sessions Court, seated at the Rouz Avenue Court complex, has granted Brahbhushan Sharan Singh additional time to answer the criminal appeal filed by four women wrestlers. The appeal targets the August 3 acquittal of Singh and Vinod Tomar in a case alleging repeated sexual harassment during national and international training camps, WWF offices, and other sporting venues.

During the hearing on October 9, the bench ordered both accused to file detailed replies, emphasizing the need for a thorough examination of the evidence that the lower court allegedly overlooked. The court’s decision to push the next hearing to October 28 reflects its intention to give both parties ample opportunity to present their arguments.

Legal commentators note that this extension underscores the judiciary’s willingness to scrutinise the procedural aspects of the original judgment, especially the alleged selective use of proof and reliance on conjecture.
