Selva Prabhu’s bronze marks another breakthrough for Indian jumpers

He opened his campaign with a 15.87‑metre effort, followed by a 16.17‑metre leap and a 16.43‑metre improvement in the third round. After a foul on his fourth attempt, he reclaimed the field with a 16.52‑metre jump that secured the third‑place podium spot. Selva’s rise began with a silver at the 2022 World U‑20 Athletics Championships, a historic award as the first Indian to be named Asian U‑20 Male Athlete of the Year, and a national under‑20 record of 16.79 metres set earlier this year.
