Selectors criticised for denying chances to promising talent Yashasvi Jaiswal

Ashwin’s criticism focused on the broader impact of the selection policy on emerging talent. He argued that withholding regular game time from a player of Jaiswal’s caliber could affect his confidence at a pivotal stage of his career. The former spinner reiterated that Jaiswal’s last ODI appearance came on 20 June 2026 against Afghanistan, when he scored an unbeaten 110 off 86 balls. Ashwin called the decision “very wrong” and urged the board to reassess its approach to giving young players consistent opportunities.
