Selection shake‑up: Lawrence, Cox and new coach team for Pakistan Tests
The England Test side for the first two Pakistan matches features a mix of fresh faces and seasoned campaigners. Dan Lawrence earns a recall after a standout County season, while Jordan Cox moves up the batting order to replace the sidelined Jacob Bethel.
The coaching set‑up also sees changes. Marcus Trescothick will act as interim head coach for the series, with former New Zealand great Stephen Fleming slated to assume the full head‑coach role once the tour ends.
Other notable inclusions are wicket‑keeper‑batsman Olly Pope, all‑rounder Brydon Carse, and fast bowler Sam Kuk. The squad list also contains Jo Root (captain), Joe Archer, Harry Brook, and the experienced seamers Olly Robinson and Sam Cuk, all set to compete in a three‑match Test series beginning on 19 August.
