India’s famous cricketer Saurabh Tiwari has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. Saurabh, who has played three ODI matches for India, is currently a part of the Jamshedpur team and is seen playing in the current edition of Ranji Trophy. He will be seen playing for the last time in the Ranji match between Jharkhand and Rajasthan starting from 15th February.

During a discussion with the media after announcing his retirement from cricket, Saurabh said, “It is certainly a bit difficult to say goodbye to such a long journey today, but I also know that this is the right time for this decision. I feel that if you cannot join the Indian team or are not in the IPL, then it is better to free up space for young boys in the state team. Right now the youth are being given ample opportunities in our state team and hence my decision is quite natural.”

Let us tell you that Indian cricketer Saurabh Tiwari, resident of Jharkhand, started playing cricket at the age of 11 years. Like Dhoni, Saurabh Tiwari was famous for his long wavy locks, he was called Chhota Dhoni of Jharkhand. Saurabh made his first-class debut at the age of just 17 in the 2006-07 Ranji Trophy season. So far he has played 115 first-class matches in which he has scored 8,030 runs at an average of 47.51. During this period, he has scored 22 centuries and 34 half-centuries in his name. Saurabh has 4,050 runs in List-A cricket and a total of 3,454 runs in T-20. Saurabh played the last match of his career for India against New Zealand in 2010.
