Salman Khan Tops Wish List of Tamil Nadu Batsman Shah Rukh

New Delhi, September 2 – When Tamil Nadu's Shah Rukh Khan lifted the TNPL trophy for Kovi Kings, he also shared a surprising personal wish. The 29‑year‑old batsman told IANS that meeting Salman Khan is higher on his priority list than meeting the film star after whom he is named.

"I really want to meet Salman Khan more than Shah Rukh Khan," he said, adding that Salman is his favourite actor and a longtime idol.

Despite sharing a name with one of Bollywood's biggest stars, the cricketer has never met Shah Rukh Khan in person. He recalled several IPL fixtures against Kolkata Knight Riders where he hoped the actor might attend, but the matches unfolded without any celebrity presence.

The player emphasized his gratitude for the platforms that have shaped his career. After two decades in Tamil Nadu's cricket circuit, he broke into the IPL with Gujarat Titans. Although his 2026 season ended early when he was removed from the playing eleven, he used the interval to fix a technical flaw in his batting – an over‑crossing front foot that had been limiting his scoring.

His recent TNPL success, a 84‑run victory over Madurai Panthers, marked the second team in league history to secure three titles. Shah Rukh praised the tournament as a vital ladder for young cricketers aiming for the IPL and national selection.

He also spoke about his close bond with fellow teammate Varun Chakravarthy, describing him as a supportive friend.

"The TNPL has given many of us a chance to shine, and I hope scouts continue to discover fresh talent here," he concluded, reaffirming his optimism for the future of Tamil Nadu cricket.
