Ahead of Pool D clash, Salima Tete outlines India's game plan for China, South Africa and England
The looming 2026 Women's Hockey World Cup, scheduled from August 15‑30 in Belgium and the Netherlands, has placed India in Pool D alongside China, South Africa and England. Captain Salima Tete sat down with IANS to detail the team’s preparation and strategic outlook.
Tete highlighted the importance of confidence built from an unbeaten Nations Cup campaign. The squad’s goal is not merely participation but to advance deep into the tournament and secure a spot in the final – a target she described as “the shared dream of every player."
"Our first test against China on August 16 will set the tone," Tete said. She stressed the need to stick to India’s fast‑paced, attacking approach while remaining disciplined in defence.
