In a significant push to make Haryana a global sporting destination, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has unveiled an ambitious grassroots sports development strategy. During a high-level review meeting on the department’s five-year action plan, he called for the immediate establishment of village stadiums on unused school land and the registration of talented children through a unified portal. The Chief Minister highlighted that early identification of athletes between the ages of 10 and 12 is critical for preparing them for the 2036 Olympics. He directed that every district maintain a detailed database of players by sport and age group. Safety audits of all equipment in sports complexes were also ordered to ensure zero accidents. Panchayats, schools, and the sports department have been tasked with jointly preparing an actionable roadmap that guarantees every promising youngster receives proper coaching, equipment, and competitive exposure. Special attention will be given to children who have dropped out of school so they can be integrated into sports programs, shielding them from negative influences. The vision, the Chief Minister said, is to transform Haryana’s sporting culture from the ground up.
