Roshibina Devi’s Silver Medal Marks Milestone for Indian Women’s Wushu

In a historic moment for Indian women’s wushu, Naorem Roshibina Devi earned a silver medal in the 60 kg sanda event at the 2026 Asian Games. By medalling in three consecutive Asian Games—bronze in 2018, silver in 2022, and silver again in 2026—she has become the first Indian wushu athlete to achieve such consistency.

Government officials from the President to the Sports Minister sent congratulatory messages, praising her perseverance, discipline and the example she sets for aspiring athletes. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh described the win as “a proud moment for the nation,” urging her to continue shining on the global stage.

Roshibina’s success is expected to boost participation in wushu across the country and encourage the Sports Ministry to invest further in training facilities and talent scouting programs.
