Rohit Sharma on partnership focus while chasing 400+ target

While chasing West Indies’ 406‑run total, Rohit Sharma stressed the importance of building big partnerships rather than fixating on the daunting scoreboard. He highlighted that India’s opening stand of 255 runs with Shubman Gill provided the platform needed to pursue a record‑breaking total.

“The wickets were good, we wanted to keep batting. We weren’t thinking about the 400‑plus score; we simply played each ball on its merit and kept the partnership going,” Rohit said. He added that pursuing such a huge target requires strong alliances at the crease, and the Gill‑Sharma stand was the catalyst that steered India toward a comfortable eight‑wicket victory.
