Indian cricketers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have headlined the ICC Awards for the year 2019 which were announced on Wednesday. While Rohit has been adjudged the 2019 ODI Cricketer of the Year, Kohli was awarded the 2019 Spirit of Cricket award for his heartwarming gesture asking fans not to boo Steve Smith during the World Cup 2019.
Still the biggest ICC prize was reserved for England all-rounder Ben Stokes with the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the world player of the year. Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins won the 2019 Test Cricketer of the Year award for his 59 Test wickets.
Rohit Sharma was in sensational form in 2019. Earlier in the year, he became the first batsman to hit 5 hundreds in a single edition of the World Cup and finished the tournament as the highest run-scorer. He finished the year with 7 ODI hundreds.
