Rashid Khan Makes History with Double Century of T20I Wickets

Afghan leg spinner Rashid Khan has written a new chapter in T20 cricket history. On Thursday in Sharjah, he became the first bowler to reach 200 wickets in international T20 matches.

He went into the Zimbabwe fixture on 199 wickets. A single dismissal was all he needed, and he claimed it by sending back Tadiwanashe Marumani. Rashid's only wicket of the match came at the moment that completed his double century.

The milestone arrived in his 120th international T20 appearance. The 200-wicket mark stands alone in the format, with no other bowler having reached it.

Rashid is first on the list of leading wicket-takers in international T20 cricket. He is followed by Adil Rashid of England with 171 wickets, then Hong Kong's Ehsan Khan with 165 wickets. New Zealand's Ish Sodhi (165 wickets) and Tim Southee (164 wickets) complete the top five.

Across all T20 cricket, including league matches, Rashid has taken 741 wickets in 551 games, which places him at the top of the overall rankings as well.

For India, Arshdeep Singh holds the record for most international T20 wickets with 149 from 102 matches. Arshdeep could reach 150 in Friday's fourth T20 against New Zealand, a match in which Mitchell Santner can also bring up 150 international T20 wickets with a single dismissal.
