Rankireddy’s Trophy Cabinet: Commonwealth, World and Asian Successes

Sathwik Rankireddy’s medal collection reads like a checklist of badminton’s most coveted events. The 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games saw him and Chirag Shetty win gold in the mixed team category, announcing India’s growing prowess in the sport.

Four years later, the pair made history at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, securing the men’s doubles gold—the first ever for India in that discipline. Their consistency extended to the world stage, where they earned bronze medals in men’s doubles at both the 2022 Tokyo and 2025 Paris World Championships.

In team competitions, Rankireddy contributed to India’s Thomas Cup gold in Bangkok 2022 and helped the squad claim bronze in 2026. The Asian circuit also yielded triumphs: a men’s doubles gold at the 2022 Asian Games, a silver with the team, and another men’s doubles gold at the 2023 Asian Championships.

These achievements have not gone unnoticed. The government honoured him with the Arjuna Award in 2020 and the Khel Ratna in 2023, placing him among the country’s most celebrated athletes.
