Ranji Trophy: Jadeja joins Unadkat's Saurashtra side for first match
Ravindra Jadeja, the seasoned Indian all‑rounder, has been included in Saurashtra's squad for the opening Ranji Trophy clash against Chhattisgarh. The selection comes as captain Jaydev Unadkat looks to blend experience with youth for the 2026/27 campaign.
Having featured in India's 2‑1 One‑Day International series win over the West Indies, Jadeja's recent outings yielded two wickets but no batting innings. The Ranji assignment will help him fine‑tune his skills before the upcoming Test series against New Zealand.
The 92nd Ranji Trophy begins on 11 October, with Saurashtra placed in Elite Group B alongside Andhra, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Hyderabad, Karnataka, Punjab and Tripura. The side retains fourteen of last season's players and introduces two newcomers – fast bowler Neel Pandya and all‑rounder Arth Yadav. Veteran keeper Harvik Desai remains between the stumps, while the batting line‑up is anchored by Arpit Vasavda, Chirag Jani and Jay Gohil.
Unadkat will lead the pace attack together with left‑arm bowler Chetan Sarkaria. Former left‑arm spinner Dharmendra Singh Jadeja has moved to Chhattisgarh, passing the spin mantle to Parth Bhoot for Saurashtra this season.
