In a significant push for sports development in the Northeast, Raksha Khadse, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, conducted a detailed inspection of the Khelo India State Centre of Excellence Assam and its adjoining High Performance Centre in Guwahati. The Sunday visit offered a first-hand look at how cutting-edge sports science is being integrated into daily training. Khadse examined specialised labs for sports science, recovery and rehabilitation units, physical assessment zones, and biomechanical evaluation tools. She interacted directly with coaches, athletes, and support staff, acknowledging their dedication and encouraging them to combine hard work with smart training practices. The minister reiterated that robust grassroots infrastructure remains central to India’s sporting ambitions. Highlighting the broader policy direction under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Khadse noted that centres like the Assam HPC are playing a decisive role in grooming talent through technology-led methods and comprehensive athlete care. She emphasised injury prevention, data-backed performance tracking, and world-class rehabilitation as key pillars of the new ecosystem. The tour also covered ongoing Khelo India athlete development initiatives aimed at preparing regional sportspersons for higher-level competition. Senior state and SAI officials joined the minister during the inspection.
