Rain Stops Fifth T20, Hope’s Performance Praised by Indian Captain
Bengaluru, 18 Oct – The final match of the India‑West Indies T20 series was washed out after relentless rain hit the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The cancellation sealed the series in a 2‑2 deadlock.
Following the wash‑out, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav singled out West Indies captain Shai Hope for his "brilliant" batting. Yadav observed that India’s inability to execute its bowling plans in the second and fourth games allowed Hope to dominate.
Hope’s aggregate of 261 runs in four games, featuring two hundreds, earned him the Player of the Series award. His 204 runs off 95 deliveries underlined his aggressive approach.
Left‑hander Sharfan Roderford also played a crucial role, posting 84 off 37 balls in the second encounter and an unbeaten 49 off 26 balls in the fourth.
When asked about the drawn series, Hope highlighted the team’s close call and praised the unity and progress demonstrated throughout the contest.
