Rain‑Soaked Track Doesn’t Slow Kiran Pahal’s Gold‑Winning Run
The Asian Games 2026 women's 4x400 relay final was contested on a rain‑slicked track, yet the Indian team, anchored by Kiran Pahal, delivered a stellar performance. Clocking 3:29.69, they edged out Bahrain and China to claim the gold medal.
Pahal explained that the continuous downpour did not hinder their race strategy. "Our federation organized a camp in Poland where we trained in similar weather. We became accustomed to running in the rain, so the wet surface was not a major obstacle," she said.
She praised the seamless coordination among the four runners – MR Puvamma, Vithya, Prachi and herself – noting that each athlete gave her maximum effort. "I gave my 100 percent, but together we turned it into 200 percent," Pahal remarked, underscoring the power of teamwork.
Beyond the track, Pahal expressed gratitude to the Athletics Federation of India for providing world‑class facilities, financial backing, and mental‑strength programs. She also thanked her family and the government, stating that their support was crucial in achieving this historic victory.
