Rabada Breaks Steyn's Record, Reaches 350 Test Wickets Quickest

South Africa's Kagiso Rabada has broken a major record in Test cricket. During the third Test against Australia at Newlands in Cape Town, he became the fastest bowler to complete 350 Test wickets based on balls bowled.

He reached the mark in 13,808 deliveries, beating Dale Steyn's tally of 14,719 balls. The achievement highlights Rabada's rapid rise among the game's elite fast bowlers.

Rabada is the fourth South African bowler to pass 350 Test wickets. The others are Dale Steyn, Shaun Pollock and Makhaya Ntini.

The milestone arrived in his 75th Test, the same match count in which Malcolm Marshall of West Indies reached 350 wickets. Measured by matches, Rabada is jointly third in the list of fastest bowlers to this landmark.

Rabada has also crossed 600 international wickets. He became the fifth South African bowler to reach that mark, doing so in his 260th international match.

Shaun Pollock still holds the South African record for the most wickets in international cricket, with 823 scalps. Rabada's 350th Test wicket was the dismissal of Travis Head.

In the third Test, Australia were 60 for seven at lunch while chasing 288 for victory. Rabada took three wickets in the second innings, and Simon Harmer also took three.

South Africa scored 329 in the first innings and Australia responded with 429, earning a 100-run first-innings lead. South Africa batted again and reached 387, thanks to centuries from Ryan Rickelton (101) and Wiaan Mulder (115).
