Preston Plumlee scores debut goal as Inter Miami clinches victory

Academy graduate Preston Plumlee made his mark for Inter Miami on July 23, scoring his first senior goal in the 87th minute to complete a 3-2 win over Chicago Fire. The young midfielder was introduced in the 69th minute, immediately showing the pace and composure that earned him his promotion.

After a quick rebound from a Suarez shot, Plumlee sprinted into the box and placed a precise finish beyond the goalkeeper, sealing the points for the home side. The goal arrived after Chicago had equalised through forward Pusuo Dithezhane in the 67th minute, keeping the contest tightly contested.

Suarez, the match’s other hero, netted a penalty in the 26th minute and added a second strike in the 51st, both crucial to overturning Chicago’s early advantage. The Argentine also reached personal landmarks – 100 appearances for Inter Miami across all competitions and 50 club goals – during the encounter.

The result marked Inter Miami’s fifth consecutive MLS victory, reinforcing their push up the Eastern Conference table and highlighting the blend of veteran leadership and emerging talent within the squad.
