President Murmu congratulates Gulvir Singh and Parul Chaudhary for double podium finishes
President Droupadi Murmu used her official X account on Monday to honor two Indian athletes who achieved consecutive podium finishes at the Asian Games 2026.
Gulvir Singh, a long‑distance runner, captured a silver medal in the men’s 1500‑metre race after previously winning silver in the 10,000‑metre event. The President’s post praised his consistency and noted that his performance represents one of the finest displays of endurance by an Indian runner at the Games.
Parul Chaudhary also earned a rare double medal, taking bronze in the women’s 3000‑metre steeplechase and another bronze in the 5000‑metre final. Murmu highlighted the significance of winning two medals in two days, calling it a “memorable dual achievement” that will motivate fellow athletes and upcoming talent.
Both athletes received personal messages of encouragement from the President, who expressed confidence that their success will inspire the next generation to aim higher and strive for excellence on the international stage.
