Power Couple Bimla and Chandrapal Banwala Dominate Indian Road Races

Bimla’s husband, Chandrapal Banwala, is a former Indian Army soldier who joined the forces in 1987. After his military service introduced him to wrestling, the pandemic sparked a new obsession – long‑distance running. Together, the duo travels across the country, competing side‑by‑side in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru.

Chandrapal has completed several marathons and ultra‑marathons, earning podium finishes on multiple occasions. Their shared enthusiasm earned them the nickname “Power Couple” within the running community. Both athletes stress that running is more than a sport; it is a lifestyle that fuels their health, discipline and mutual support.
