A well-timed half-century from captain Paul Stirling helped Ireland defeat Namibia by 55 runs in the first ODI of the series. The match was played on Thursday at the High Performance Oval in Windhoek.

Ireland lost the toss and were asked to bat. They finished on 229 for 9 after their 50 overs. Stirling's 56 came off 71 balls and included one six and eight fours, providing the foundation for the total.

Carmichael produced an important innings of his own. He made 45 and shared a 54-run stand with Harry Tector, who made 28. He also added 27 with Lorcan Tucker, who scored 28, helping Ireland reach a competitive score.

Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton was the leading wicket-taker for the visitors, claiming 4 wickets for 36 runs. JJ Smit took 2 wickets.

Namibia were bowled out for 174 in 37.5 overs. Michael van Lingen and Lauren Steinkamp started the chase with a 48-run stand for the first wicket. Van Lingen made 23, and Steinkamp was out for 26 with the score on 55. A collapse followed.

Gerhard Erasmus scored 22 as captain. Ruben Trumpelmann was the top scorer for Namibia, hitting 50 from 43 balls with seven boundaries, but he could not prevent the defeat.

Gavin Hoey was the best bowler for the home side with 3 wickets for 29 runs. George Dockrell and Jay Mundra took 2 wickets each.
