The final day of the Indian Open Para Athletics Championship turned Sri Kanteerava Stadium into a theatre of excellence as top Indian athletes competed for glory. Sumit Antil, fresh from Paralympic success, delivered a masterclass in the F64 javelin, launching the spear 74.82 metres to secure gold and reaffirm his status as India’s premier thrower. Sandeep Sargar and another athlete named Sandeep completed the podium for Maharashtra and Rajasthan respectively. Rinku maintained Haryana’s dominance in the F46 category with a 61.70-metre gold, narrowly ahead of Ajit Singh and Ravi Kumar, both representing Uttar Pradesh. Praveen Kumar added another medal to Haryana’s tally in the F57 event, throwing 45.02 metres. Nishad Kumar cleared 2.05 metres in the men’s high jump T47, bringing gold back to Himachal Pradesh. Sprint highlights included Lalita Kilka’s victory in the women’s 200m T11 and Preeti Pal’s commanding win in the T35 event. Deepti Jeevanji’s 57.84-second performance in the 400m T20 kept Telangana’s flag flying high. Bhavanaben Ajab Chaudhary’s 37.01-metre throw earned her gold in the women’s F46 javelin. The championship concluded with renewed optimism for India’s para athletics program, highlighting both established champions and emerging talents ready to compete on the global stage.
