Para badminton and table tennis added to India's 2026 Games roster
The Asian Paralympic Committee initially allocated only 60 quota places for India at the 2026 Asian Para Games. After a review, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports secured additional slots for para badminton and para table tennis, expanding the Indian delegation.
The badminton contingent now comprises 28 athletes, while the table‑tennis team adds 15 competitors to the overall count. These two sports bring the total number of disciplines represented by India to ten.
Both new entries will travel with dedicated coaches and support staff, ensuring that they receive the same level of preparation as the larger athletics and swimming squads.
Officials expect the expanded lineup to enhance India's medal prospects, especially after a strong performance in Hangzhou where Indian para athletes captured over a hundred medals.
