Para-Athletes Shine with Gold, Praise Government Support

India’s para‑athletes also made their mark at the Commonwealth Games. Shooter Somn Rana clinched gold in the men’s Shot Put F‑57 class, while Sharmila Dhanak secured a gold medal in the women’s event of the same discipline.

Both athletes thanked the Indian Army, the Ministry of Defence and the sports ministry for the facilities and encouragement that helped them reach the podium.

Suvrana Raj, another para‑athlete, affirmed that the nation’s performance has improved steadily since 2016 and that India can soon challenge traditional sporting powerhouses for medal tallies.

The athletes reiterated their commitment to maintain high standards and bring more medals to the country in upcoming international competitions.
