Nitu David to Lead Scouting Operations for UP Warriors Ahead of WPL 2027
New Delhi (19 Aug) – The UP Warriors announced on X that former India women’s team selector Nitu David will assume the role of scouting head for the 2027 Women’s Premier League season. David, who joined the off‑season camp at Bengaluru’s Sai Krishnan Grounds under head coach Abhishek Nair, will now oversee the identification of emerging talent.
Her résumé includes serving as chairperson of the national selection committee and a distinguished playing career with 10 Tests and 97 ODIs, taking 182 wickets. The franchise hopes her administrative and scouting expertise will reverse a poor run of form that has seen the team win only 12 of 33 matches.
Current staff members such as fielding coach Saurabh Bandeikar and mentor Lisa Sthalekar will work alongside David to locate domestic prospects capable of improving the Warriors’ standing after finishing at the bottom of the points table in both 2025 and 2026.
The appointment signals a strategic shift for a franchise that has struggled to qualify for playoffs since its inaugural season in 2023.
