New Indian Archery Squad Eyes 2028 Olympic Quota
The AAI’s Secretary General Veerendra Sachdeva outlined the long‑term vision for Indian archery ahead of the 2026 Asian Games. With only a handful of shooters having prior Asian Games experience, the current lineup is largely fresh.
"Our archers are hungry and eager to give their best," Sachdeva explained. "We aim to secure quota places for the Paris 2028 Olympics. Historically, South Korea has dominated both the Asian Games and the Olympics, but recent government initiatives and support from the Sports Authority of India are beginning to show results."
Highlighting the progress, Sachdeva pointed to the recent victory over Kim Je‑deok as evidence that the new generation can challenge traditional powerhouses. He urged the team to stay disciplined, maintain focus, and capitalize on the growing infrastructure for Indian archery.
