From Navy Roots to World Champion: Dheeraj's Journey

The Bommadevara family has a long tradition of disciplined service. Shravan Kumar served in the Indian Navy, while Dheeraj’s grandfather worked with the Border Roads Organisation and his brother is a teacher.

Growing up in this environment, Dheeraj was introduced to archery early. His mother, Revati, described the gold medal as a moment of joy not just for the family but for Andhra Pradesh and the entire nation.

Shravan, who has spent nearly two decades in archery administration, works as a national technical official and has helped shape the sport’s development in his home state. He believes the family’s support system played a crucial role in Dheeraj’s ascent to world champion.
