Lucknow Super Giants head coach Justin Langer has a new favorite in the dressing room: Mukul Chaudhary. The young gun’s heroics against Kolkata Knight Riders earned him high praise, with Langer likening his between-the-wickets dash to cricket icon Virat Kohli.
Chaudhary’s unbeaten 54 from 27 deliveries proved decisive, clinching a narrow three-wicket win for LSG in a high-stakes IPL clash. Overnight, the batter has become the talk of the town, his athletic display turning heads.
In an interview with JioHotstar, Langer lit up: ‘Mukul is a genuine athlete. His running between wickets is phenomenal, mirroring Kohli’s intensity. Add to that his incredible game awareness.’
The Aussie coach highlighted Chaudhary’s maturity. ‘In practice matches, he discusses the game like a veteran with hundreds of caps. Power-packed, quick-witted, and eager to evolve – that’s Mukul. He took time off to master the short ball, and our consistent drills translated perfectly to the field.’
Langer shouted out analyst Srinivas Chandrashekaran for unearthing the gem. ‘Months back, in a training camp, Srinivas pushed for him. India’s talent pool is endless, and he nailed this call.’
When quizzed about the pressure cooker finish – 54 needed from 24 balls – Langer revealed his focus stayed on positives. ‘I jotted down how brilliant our bowling and fielding were. That wicket suited us perfectly.’
Early scalp in the tournament? Langer sees it as a booster shot. ‘Nail-biting wins build unshakeable belief. Doesn’t matter if it’s bat or ball – these are morale magic.’
With Chaudhary firing on all cylinders, LSG eyes a strong IPL run, blending youth and experience seamlessly.
