The Madhya Pradesh Premier League (MPL) is set to redefine regional cricket with its bold expansion for the 2026 season. Announcing five additional franchises, the league is amplifying its men's division to 10 teams and women's to five, fostering deeper competition and wider talent pools. Men's cricket takes center stage with newcomers Malwa Stallions, Ujjain Falcons, and Royal Nimar Eagles stepping into the fray. They will challenge the likes of Bhopal Leopards—the current title holders—Bundelkhand Bulls, Chambal Gharials, Gwalior Cheetahs, Indore Pink Panthers, Jabalpur Royal Lions, and Rewa Jaguars. This 10-team showdown is expected to showcase the best of Madhya Pradesh cricket. In parallel, the women's tournament gains momentum with the addition of Gwalior Shernis and Royal Nimar Eagles. Joining Bhopal Wolves, Bundelkhand Wolves, and Chambal Gharials, these teams will compete in a revamped five-team format. This expansion is a significant stride toward promoting women's cricket, providing more spots for skilled players to emerge. The development underscores MPL's commitment to growth. Commenting on the changes, ex-chairman Maharyaman Scindia highlighted its importance: 'Adding teams in both categories opens doors for more athletes and aids in discovering hidden gems from diverse regions. Our vision is a thriving league that nurtures youth and captivates audiences.' With this restructuring, MPL 2026 is poised to attract larger crowds, sponsor interest, and produce memorable moments. Fans can look forward to a season packed with strategy, skill, and surprises as the state unites behind its cricketing ambitions.
