Mona Agarwal Shines at Asian Para Games With 357.5 World Record

Indian para-shooter Mona Agarwal produced one of the standout performances of the Asian Para Games, winning gold in the women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions SH1 event with a world-record total of 357.5.

The competition took place at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery in Toyota. The victory is Mona's second gold medal at the Games, following her earlier success in the 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 category.

Mona's total of 357.5 surpassed the world record of 356 set by Sweden's Ana Benson in July 2026 during a World Cup event in Novi Sad. It also went past the Asian record held by South Korea's Lee Yun-ri, who shot 355.7 last month.

In qualification, Mona placed sixth with 566-17x. Her teammate Avani Lekhara led the qualification round with 580-24x, a score that set an Asian Para Games qualification record.

In the final, Mona was impressive from the first series. She recorded 101.4 in the kneeling stage and 102.1 in the prone stage. Her standing series produced scores of 53, 50.8, 10.4, 10.3, 10.1, 9.6 and 9.8, which were enough to secure the gold.

China's Qiuping Zhang won silver with 353.7, while South Korea's Myeong Kim took bronze with 344.4. Avani finished fourth with 333.2 and missed out on a podium finish.

Earlier, Mona had claimed gold in the women's 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event. She scored 250, an Asian Para Games record, while Avani took silver with 249.6.

The back-to-back golds and the world record underline Mona's dominance in the SH1 category and reflect India's strong showing in para-shooting.
