Amsterdam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned the spotlight on Indian-origin cricketers while visiting the Netherlands, calling their contributions a symbol of the strong cultural bonds between India and the Dutch nation. Addressing the media, Modi highlighted how Aryan Dutt, Teja Nidamanuru and Vikramjit Singh have become key members of the Netherlands squad. He said their presence reflects the Indian community’s passion for the game and its ability to produce talent even outside India. The Prime Minister noted that the Netherlands had given India a close contest in the T20 World Cup 2026 and had earlier stunned the cricket world with wins against South Africa and Bangladesh in the 2023 ODI World Cup. These performances, he stressed, show the Netherlands is no longer a minnow but a competitive side. Modi concluded by saying that cricket diplomacy remains a powerful tool and that the success of Indian-origin players in Dutch colours is a matter of pride for both nations.
