Modi Praises Hockey, Kabaddi and Archery Golds, Calls Success 'Nation’s Victory'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his address to India’s Asian Games 2026 contingent at New Delhi’s Major Dhyan Chand Stadium, highlighted the gold medals won in men’s and women’s hockey and the dual triumphs in men’s and women’s kabaddi. He also celebrated five gold medals secured in archery, describing the spread of victories across sports as a “nation’s victory rather than an individual achievement.”
Modi noted that the athletes’ commitment has offered 140 crore citizens moments of pride and joy. He recalled the consistent silver medals earned by India’s cricket teams and applauded impressive performances in shooting, boxing, wrestling, and athletics, where new records were set. The Prime Minister also marked the return of a weight‑lifting medal after 28 years and the historic marathon finish that broke a four‑decade drought.
Concluding his speech, Modi extended heartfelt congratulations and urged the young champions to continue fueling the nation’s ambition on the global sporting stage.
