Modi lauds Indian athletes across Asian Games events, from marathon to shooting
New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi used X to extend congratulations to a wide range of Indian athletes who excelled at the 2026 Asian Games.
In addition to Sawan Barwal’s marathon silver, Modi praised the women’s kabaddi team for securing gold against Iran, the men’s kabaddi side for another gold, the rifle trio of Tilottama Sen, Vidarsha Vinod Kochalam and Aashi Chouksey for a silver in the 50‑metre rifle 3‑position team event, and the mixed‑doubles table‑tennis pair Manush Shah and Diya Chitlay for a bronze that secured India’s fourth table‑tennis medal in Games history.
He also highlighted Tejinderpal Singh Toor’s repeat silver in men’s shot put and urged all athletes to keep raising India’s sporting profile. The Prime Minister concluded with best wishes for their future endeavors.
