Mission Olympic Wing Credited for Preparing Service Athletes for Success

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commended the Mission Olympic Wing for its pivotal role in readying armed‑force athletes for the Asian Games. The wing’s focus on scouting promising talent, delivering scientific training modules and upgrading sports infrastructure was cited as a key driver behind the 27‑medal haul.

Singh explained that the wing’s efforts ensure that service athletes receive the same level of preparation as civilian counterparts, enabling them to compete effectively on the international stage. He stressed the importance of timely opportunity, structured coaching and logistical support for athletes aiming for future events such as the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The minister also highlighted that the qualities nurtured within the military – physical fitness, mental resilience and leadership – translate into competitive advantage in sports. He urged continued collaboration between the wing, the armed forces and national sporting bodies to sustain the momentum.

The message concluded with a call to identify and nurture talent early, improve preparation standards, and provide the necessary resources to keep India’s medal prospects growing.
