Mexico federation names Rafael Marquez as new national team manager

In a statement released on July 9, the Mexican Football Federation announced that Rafael Marquez will serve as the head coach of the senior national side. Marquez, who previously acted as an assistant to Javier Aguirre from July 2024, now assumes full responsibility for the team. Aguirre’s two‑year tenure saw Mexico win the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup and Nations League, compiling a record of 33 wins, 9 draws and 8 losses in 50 matches. The federation praised Aguirre’s legacy and thanked him on social media for his contributions.
