Medical advice ends Danny Lamb's decade‑long county career

Professional cricketer Danny Lamb has been forced to retire after doctors advised him against continuing due to a severe neck injury. The 30‑year‑old all‑rounder, who has played for Lancashire and Sussex, suffered a disc herniation early this season, followed by surgery on his right arm that could not fully resolve the issue.

Lamb’s decision comes after a series of consultations that highlighted the risk of further spinal damage. Over nearly ten years, he contributed across formats, featuring in 93 County Championship games for Lancashire before moving to Sussex, where he added to his first‑class tally with an average of 33.13 and a personal best of 134 runs.

His performances helped Sussex secure promotion to Division One and reach the T20 Blast finals, underscoring his importance to the side.
