MCA Highlights Growth Prospects After Adding Navi Mumbai Team

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced that the T20 Mumbai League will feature a ninth franchise based in Navi Mumbai starting from the next season.

The franchise agreement, awarded to Aspect Sports, runs for six years and is valued at ₹106.88 crore, including a ₹12.21 crore payment for the inaugural season. MCA officials view the transaction as a catalyst for long‑term development of cricket infrastructure across the metropolitan region.

The league’s brand ambassador, Rohit Sharma, continues to lend his stature to the competition. The 2026 edition’s roster, which included Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, Shardul Thakur, Sarfaraz Khan and Tushar Deshpande, helped raise the event’s global profile.

President Ajinkya Naik highlighted that the expansion reflects a vision to embed cricket into every neighborhood of Mumbai, offering more competitive platforms for upcoming players. He expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Aspect Sports to strengthen the league’s ecosystem.

Governance council chairman Rajdeep Gupta added that the new franchise will enhance the league’s value proposition for stakeholders, broaden fan engagement, and cement the T20 Mumbai League as a lasting sports property.
