He argued that the team’s initial lack of pressure allowed Spain to settle into a rhythm, while France’s early passes and touches did not meet the standards expected at this level.

According to Mbappe, “We needed to be ready for the one‑on‑one battles and to press the opposition high up the pitch.” He pointed out that Spain prefers a low‑intensity defensive block, and by winning the ball back quickly, France could have disrupted their buildup and forced errors.
