Mark Chapman, Jack Fox Out of New Zealand’s T20 Series vs India
New Zealand’s cricketing calendar will see major changes as the nation prepares to host India for a five‑match T20 series from October 22 to November 1. All‑rounder Mark Chapman has been forced out with a thigh strain, and fast‑bowler Jack Fox will miss the series after injuring his hip during a training session.
Chapman’s thigh injury was first diagnosed during his participation in a European T20 competition, and while he may recover for the upcoming ODI series, the T20 fixtures are now beyond his reach. Fox’s hip problem was confirmed after an on‑field mishap, leaving his return date uncertain.
The board swiftly named Joshl Clarkson and seamer Blair Tickner as replacements. Coach Walter expressed his disappointment over the setbacks but highlighted the readiness of the new inclusions. “Having experienced players like Clarkson and Tickner gives us confidence ahead of a competitive series,” he remarked.
The schedule includes two opening matches in Christchurch (22 and 24 October), a third encounter in Wellington on 27 October, a fourth in Auckland on 30 October, and the finale in Hamilton on 1 November. The Black Caps squad, captained by Mitch Santner, features a blend of batting depth and bowling variety aimed at challenging the Indian side.
