How Manjeet Singh Became a Mentor for Emerging Rowers in India
After a distinguished career that includes Olympic appearances and an Asian Games silver, Manjeet Singh has turned his focus toward coaching.
Singh credits his own coach, Ismail Beg, as the primary inspiration for his mentorship philosophy. He believes that early exposure to quality training can accelerate a rower’s development.
Currently based in New Delhi, Singh conducts weekly workshops for junior athletes, emphasizing technique, discipline, and mental resilience. He also collaborates with the national rowing federation to identify talent from schools and colleges.
His efforts have already yielded promising results, with several trainees qualifying for national camps. Singh’s ultimate goal is to see India consistently win medals at the Asian Games and Olympics through a stronger talent pipeline.
Through dedication to both personal performance and athlete development, Singh exemplifies the role of a sportsperson turned mentor.
