Manipur’s Squad to Compete in Sepaktakraw, Rowing, Cycling and More

A delegation from Manipur comprising 36 athletes and three coaches is set to join the 20th Asian Games in Aichi‑Nagoya, Japan. The athletes will take part in Sepaktakraw (12 players), rowing (one), cycling (three), fencing (three), canoeing and kayaking (six), boxing (one), weightlifting (three), wushu (three), judo (one) and hockey (three).

The state’s chief minister, Yumnant Khemchand Singh, congratulated the team for securing spots in the continent‑wide competition. He encouraged them to approach each contest with confidence, steadfast discipline and a relentless drive to achieve personal bests.

The Asian Games, scheduled from October 4 to 10, unite athletes from across Asia in one of the largest sporting gatherings on the continent. This edition will see 45 nations battling for medals in 43 sports, with Japan hosting the event for the third time after Tokyo 1958 and Hiroshima 1994.
