Lorie’s Ten‑Under Performance Puts Him Top of Irish Open leaderboard

Doonbeg, Ireland – After a blistering eight‑under‑par 62 in the second round, Shane Lorie sits at 11‑under‑par, the clear leader of the Amgen Irish Open. His total of 67‑62 gives him a three‑stroke cushion over the nearest competitors.

Lorie’s round was defined by early birdies on holes three, four and five, followed by a remarkable run of three consecutive birdies on the seventh, eighth and ninth holes. He entered the turn at six under par. The back nine delivered two more birdies, a lone bogey on the 13th, and a final birdie on the 15th, solidifying his 62.

Trailing him, China’s Haotong Li posted a 63 (seven under), while Jacob Skov Olsen (Denmark) and Niklas Norgard (Norway) each posted 64 (six under), both sharing the second spot on the leaderboard. Rori McCloy (69‑69) resides on T‑20 and John Rahm (70‑67) on T‑14.

Lorie’s victory in the 2009 Irish Open as an amateur – a playoff win over Robert Rock – remains a milestone, and he has contested every edition since. The start of 2026 saw mixed results, with a top‑10 finish at the Dubai Invitational and an eighth place at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro‑Am, but his recent surge resurrects the form that took him to glory on a par‑72 course back then.
