Local Fitness Rally Prepares Residents for Chandigarh’s Big October 4 Celebration
In a bid to educate residents about the benefits of regular exercise, Chandigarh hosted a local fitness rally on August 23. The event, organized near Sukhna Lake, saw participants of all ages taking part in a short run followed by a series of wellness activities.
Air Commodore Deepak Pant emphasized that the rally serves as a rehearsal for the main celebration on October 4, dedicated to Flying Officer Nirmal Jeet Singh Sekhon. He noted that the preliminary run allows organisers to test venue setup, traffic regulation, and crowd management ahead of the larger program.
The rally attracted a diverse audience, many of whom regularly use the lake’s pathway for morning walks. By integrating health messaging into an entertaining format, officials hope to embed fitness habits in the daily routines of Chandigarh’s citizens.
After completing the race, participants engaged in stretching sessions and some showcased musical talents, creating a festive yet health‑focused ambiance. The event reinforced the city’s image as a dynamic hub where community wellbeing is celebrated.
